Today starts a new term for BCIT Students. A lot of new faces from every single faculty will flood into the campuses around Greater Vancouver for their orientation day of what to expect in a post-secondary life, what BCIT expects from them, what their instructors will expect from them, and what their classmates will expect from them.

This is the same for new BCIT Marketing Manangement Students, they will start their first year in the diploma program, and pretty soon will choose one of the five options available to them with Professional Real Estate as one of those options. It may seem quite intimidating to some students as to what option to choose and why that choice will change their lives forever, but whatever that choice may be they will have other students along side with them supporting them, reinforcing their understandings, and even changing their paradigms in thinking.

Students who have or will eventually choose the Professional Real Estate option, will experience just exactly the things just mentioned in the previous sentence. They will learn what a real estate market is, why Vancouver is unique compared to Canada and the World, where the world is heading, and what will happen to the landscape of the real estate industry once this recession is over. It may seem intimidating, frightful, and even unknown, but with the BCIT Real Estate Association helping out smooth the bumpy ride we will all enjoy the ride to our own destinations in the real estate industry, and along the way meet some associates and may be create life-long friendships in the process.

Also make sure you attend today's student orientation day happening from 10 am to 3 pm at the Gym and Student Association Building.

BCIT's School of Business Professional Real Estate Program is recognized in all of Canada for both its focus and intensity on learning and application of practice-driven skills. With an emphasis on real estate industry application, the student's learning is founded on business strategy, law, financing, market forecasting, investment analysis, contractual documentation, leadership, teamwork, negotiation, and real property asset management.

The Program

In their first year, students concentrate on developing a solid understanding of core business concepts including integrated marketing and communications for global and local markets, computer skills and Internet marketing basics, business communications, technical sales, economics, business math, and accounting practices.

In the second year of the program, students focus on their specific fields of Professional Real Estate. Combined with additional core competencies such as business law, computer applications, marketing research, and marketing planning, BCIT Marketing Management grads have the benefit of a solid general business foundation, layered with an intensive program specialization.

Upon completion of the two-year full-time program, students are fully prepared to enter the world of commercial, residential, or recreational real estate as a budding entrepreneur or an integral part of a corporate team.
